HIMCR #68: Die Cuts

Our Challenge this week at Hiding In My Craft Room is to use Die Cuts.  So Simple, right?!?!

 

I broke out my favorite Sizzix dies.  That little cupcake is the best!!!

 

I started this card with a Cherry Cobbler card base.  The designer papers all come from My Mind's Eye (Can you tell what one of my favorite companies is right now?). 

 

The cute heart is wood veneer from Studio Calico.  And the "happy day" sentiment came from a Close to My Heart stamp set that I just got!

SIT #90

Hey Everyone...I'm back today with another Sketches in Thyme layout!  You can see the one I posted yesterday for the Design Team call here.

 

Today it's for sketch #90!  Here it is...

 

 

And here is my take on the sketch!

This is a picture of my hubby and me right before we had Noah...14 months ago!  You can tell by my swollen face!

 

I started this layout with this cute LOVE paper by American Crafts!  I just LOVE it!!!  The other patterned paper on this layout came from My Mind's Eye.  I then added some washi tape over top of the papers. 

All of the embellishments (Except the American Crafts button and SU white thread) on this layout come from the new Simple Stories Sn@p products!  I just love them!

Cute-ness...huh?

Sketches in Thyme DT Call

Hey Everyone!  Sketches in Thyme is having a Design Team call and I loved the sketch, so I thought that I would create my sample and see if it's good enough to be chosen. 

 

Here is the sketch...

 

And here is my take on it...

I started this layout with a Crumb Cake cardstock base.  I made this one while I was at Archiver's this past weekend and they had some new products in stock.  So I tried them out.  Have you see the Sn@p products by Simple Stories?  I LOVE THEM! 

The red and pink DSP is from My Mind's Eye.  The little circle stickers are from Simple Stories and those buttons, brads and thread are from Stampin Up!

I love the new Sn@p stuff because there are SO many papers that have little thought bubbles on them that you can cut out to embellish a card or a scrapbook page!  So easy and cute!!!

And it seems that I can't finish a layout these days without adding a little bit of washi tape!  I used a little turquoise and yellow on this page!

Inspiration and JAI139

It's time for another Inspiration Challenge.  This week we looked to our Stampin' Success magazine.  This magazine is sent out to all demonstrators to give us business tips and stamping inspiration!  I love getting mine in the mail.

 

For this challenge we were supposed to look at page 30 for inspiration and create a card, scrapbook page or altered item.

 

I created two cards this week...

Card #1 is also being entered in the Just Add Ink Challenge this week: Use Something New.  I just got the No Peeking stamp set and I am loving that little penguin!  Also new to me is that cute Brushed Bronze Button!  I love them both...both from Stampin' Up!

 

I started this card with a Pool Party card base.  I then added a little chevron DSP from the Festival of Prints pack and the Newsprint at the top came from the Early Edition pack.  I stamped the sentiment "Jolly Christmas" on a Crumb Cake piece of cardstock.  The embellishments on the card are: Jean Ribbon and a Brushed Bronze Button, tied with Linen Thread. 

 

The penguin was created by stamping with black and orange (feet and nose) on Very Vanilla cardstock first.  I just cut him out and stamped a second peguin...just inking the hat and scraf.  I cut both of those out and pieced them together.  Dimensional added to the back of the hat and scarf was just the perfect touch to finish the card off. 

My second card for the Klompen Stampers challenge was started with a Crumb Cake card base.  All of the papers and embellishments are the same as on the card above: Festival of Prints DSP pack, Early Edition DSP pack, Jean ribbon and Brushed Bronze Button tied with Linen Thread.

 

I used the Blue Ribbon stamp set on this card.  I just love the color combination.  This would be a great birthday card for a male!

CAS(E) this sketch #1

I found this great challenge that is just getting started this week!  I love sketches and I REALLY love Cute and Simple (CAS) sketches!  So I see myself playing this one every week! 

 

Here is my card for this week's sketch...

 

I started with a Crumb Cake card base.  The designer papers on this card are from My Mind's Eye.  I used my hexagon punch to make a border across the bottom of the card.  Then I added a Studio Callico wood butter fly and a little butterfly from the MME paper that I cut out!

 

So simple and so cute!

Hey Everyone!  I got to spend 11 hours yesterday crafting and creating with some good friends.  So I have a whole week of projecst to share with you!  YAY!

So here is my first card...

I used a Primrose Petals cardstock base...I haven't used this new color too much yet and I have to say that Stampin Up really gave us a great color in 2012!  I love it!

I then used multiple black, white and gray washi tapes to give a little pattern.  I attached the Bingo card with dimensionals.  And those sweet little wooden girl and boy finish the card off!  I love those Studio Calico wood embellishments!

HIMCR #67: Super Scraps Saturday

Well it's my first ever Super Scraps Saturday with Hiding In My Craft Room!  I was excited to get started on this challenge but didn't really know what to do.  I don't tend to lean towards scraps to start a card or scrapbook page.  BUT, I did this time and it was fun!

 

I decided to walk into my messy scrap room and just look at what I had on my messy table and use that!  I instantly found my green scallop negative image to my right.  So that is what I built the card around!  See it in the picture above?  I used that piece of paper to punch the scallop on this card.

In addition to my messy table, I would like to show you how I store all of my scraps.  These drawers can easily hold scraps as big as 8.5x12.  Perfect!  I have them labeled: Red/Orange/Pink, Green/Yellow, Blue/Purple, White/Cream/Kraft, Black/Brown (and it should also say Gray), and Patterned Paper.  I love this way of storage!  So easy to find what I'm looking for.

And here's my card! 

I started with a Crumb Cake card base.  I pulled this from my new cardstock BUT, I do often have a card size piece in my scraps...just didn't have the color I wanted this time!  Crumb Cake goes fast around here!

 

The patterned papers were hanging  out on my desk from these projects!  I added them and a little bit of washi tape...I'm obsessed!  Then I layered the green negative scallop on a Very Vanilla piece of cardstock. 

 

I finished up with a BIG blue button tied with twine and a sentiment "Hope Your Day Is Fabulous".

Technique Challenge #2: Thumping

Our Technique Challenge this week is Thumping.  You can see a tutorial here but it's a really easy way to use an ink pad and a darker colored marker to achieve a two-toned image when you stamp!

My first card is 3x3 inches.  I started with a Perfect Plum card base which I spritz with a little rubbing alcohol mixed with Shimmer paint.  So the card base is a tiny bit sparkly!  I love this effect!  The scalloped circle was punched from a paper in the Summer Smooches DSP pack.  I then added a Night of Navy circle on top.

 

The butterfly is where I used the thumping technique.  I used the Wisteria Wonder ink pad and then thumped with the Night of Navy marker.  I love how this turned out! 

 

My finishing touches were a little white baker's twine on the top and a few pearls on the lower half o the circle.

My second card was created off of a sketch from Create with Connie and Mary. 

 

I started this card with a Chocolate Chip card base.  I then stamped and used the thumping technique on the Whisper White cardstock piece with the Wonderfall stamp set.  I cut a few leaves out and popped them up with dimensions.  The banners on the bottom were created with More Mustard cs, Old Olive cs and a piece from the Howlstooth & Scaringbone DSP pack.

 

That cute little Brushed Bronze Button tied with Linen Thread finished off the card!

HIMCR #66

Hey Everyone!  I hope that this Saturday morning finds you nice and warm.  There is a high is 53 degrees today in KC.  Brrr...  I hope that it warms up a bit before it continues to be this cold all winter long!

 

The Hiding in my Craft Room color combination is Purple, Orange and Black.  I hope you like my card!

 

 

I used Stampin Up's Rich Razzleberry as a card base and then the papers from the Howlstooth and Scaringbone DSP pack.  I am in LOVE with this color combination.

Stylin' Stampin' Blog Hop: October

It's time for another blog hop!  YAY!  This month we are focusing on Halloween themed projects.  I used the Googly Ghouls and Howlstooth & Scaringbone DSP for both of my projects this month!  I just can't get enough of them!

My card started with a Basic Gray cardstock base.  My banners were made from the Howlstooth & Scaringbone DSP.  The Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons come in three sizes...perfect for the 3 banners on this card!  I tied bows with Linen Thread.

 

The little mummy from the Googly Ghouls was stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock and cut out.  Then I added a little googly eye!  LOVE! 

My project this month is a scrapbook page of my little Noah's first Halloween.  He dressed up as Percy (the train).  In this picture he is cuddling with Grandpa during an event at their church.  So sweet!

 

I started this layout with a Lucky Limeade cardstock base.  I added DSP from the Howlstooth & Scaringbone pack.  Also some of the Basic Black & Basic Gray Stripped Satin Ribbon.

 

The little bat from the Googly Ghouls stamp set was stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock and cut out. I then added googly eyes...how can you not?!

Other embellishments on this layout: Brights Buttons, Linen Thread and 1/8" Mini Brads in silver.
